If you are looking for a peaceful oasis in Zagorje region Cottages on Hill are excellent choice for holidays and hanging around with family and friends. Romantic surroundings make them an ideal place for couples. Prepare your own barbecue or become a master chef of local specialties like kotlovina or čobanac under the guidance of the host.

We offer unique accomodation in recently renovated 19th century traditional houses. All interiors are decorated with works of art or ethnographic items. Your host, Tomislav Horjan, is an artist who can show you many creative solutions in interior decoration, especially mosaics. The Cottages on Hill will not only offer you the experiences from the time of your grandparents but will also reveal the joy of rural life in contemporary context. You can stay in the larger wooden house and/or in small cottages (called komorka) that used to be very popular in village cooperatives in the past for young married couples.

The main house consists of two 2-bedrooms and a single-room (serves as a living room during the winter). There is a central gas-heating system in the house plus a traditional wood-fuelled stove. Three bathrooms are decorated with hand-made mosaics and each has a shower, toilet and washbasin. It can be rented with the one-room cottage Marica that has no bathroom of its own. All rooms have painted walls with unique patterns and are furnished with contemporary and traditional pieces of furniture. Paintings, graphics, art and craft objects give creative ambiance to the place.

Guests can prepare their own meals in the kitchen. There is a TV and a good selection of books in our library.

A large porch in front of the house serves as a fantastic living room during summertime with a dining area or place for playing social games. It can be also transformed into an atelier with – we have a painter's stand waiting for you take a brush in the hand.

The Main House

rents for 120 euro per day

The main house consists of two 2-bedrooms and one single room. One of the bedrooms which accommodates two people has a separate bathroom while the others use the common bathroom facilities together with the old one-room cottage. This sanitary part consists of 2 separate bathrooms (one for man and one for women and a separate toilet, and an entrance area with a small separate wash-basin).

There is a small kitchen in the house which is used by all guests and a small library.

There is a large porch in front of the house where three to four separate tables can be arranged. The main house is normally rented as a whole with the one-room cottage.

Separate rooms can rented only according to the special agreement with hosts and not in the heating season.

On the porch we can arrange a painter's stand and a table for traditional social games.

Cottage Marica

is rented only with the main house

This is a small one-room traditional cottage dating from the first half of the 19th century. It is situated on its original place. The room has one bed, small cupboard, table and chair and a traditional wash-basin with a jug (there is no running water in this cottage). Toilet and bathroom are used in the main house and it is rented together with the house. In front of the house there is a small table and bench where you can sit in nice weather under the shadow of trees.
